You may know, I am a huge believer in natural medicine, vitamins and herbal supplements. I'm not adverse to pharmaceutical medicine but it is our last line of defense against serious illness.

 I believe that health is wealth and we choose to practice preventative medicine to augment our bodies' natural ability to heal itself. The children take specific vitamins and herbs to boost their immunity to sickness and supplements to enhance focus and concentration in school.

As a family, we do bi-annual parasite cleansing. Our cleanse of choice here. The manufacturers of that herbal cleanse recommend "in between herbs" which are just that, herbs taken in between cleanses to help keep our insides clean, detoxify organs and deter all types of parasites. These herbs are the kind you cook with and are not harmful.

Since i do not get to cook with all of the herbs everyday, I decided to make my own supplements myself by mixing the herbs and filling empty gelatin capsules for us to take daily. We have all been enjoying the benefits of taking these herbs daily.

I wanted to share the herbs and benefits they bring to anyone who might like to make their own "in between herbs" capsules.

Mix equal parts of:

Garlic (we use powder):
can slow and kill, more than sixty types of fungi and twenty types of bacteria, including some of the most potent viruses known to man. Garlic alone can help in controlling parasites. Garlic has a history of being able to kill parasites and control secondary fungal infections; detoxify and gently stimulate elimination; it also has antioxidant properties to protect against oxidation caused by parasites' toxins. Allicin and Ajoene, are the components in Garlic that kill parasites including the one-cell varieties as well as pinworms and hookworms. Garlic has antimicrobial activities (including anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-protozoal, and anti-parasitic) that kills: B. subtilis, E. coli, P. mirabilis, Salmonella typhi, methicillin-resistant Staph aureus, Staph faecalis, salmonella enteritidis, and V. cholerae ,staphylococcus, Escherichia, Proteus, Salmonella, Providencia, Citrobacter, Klebsiella, Hafnia, Aeromonas, Vibrio and Bacillus genera. Garlic is also very effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Garlic also kills Microsporum, Epidermophyton, Trichophyton, Rhodotorula, Torulopsis, Trichosporon, Cryptococcus neoformans, and Candida, including Candida albicans. Garlic also has anti-amoebic and anti-protozoan properties and is especially effective against Entamoeba histolytica  and Paramecium caudatum.

Onion(powder):  contain chemical compounds believed to have anti-inflammatory,  anti-cholesterol, anticancer, and antioxidant properties such as quercetin.Onions may be especially beneficial for women,who are at increased risk for osteoporosis as they go through menopause, by destroying osteoclasts so that they do not break down bone.

Thyme: contains thymol, carvacrol and flavonoids which are effective in killing bacteria (such as fungal infections ie: yeast infections) and are especially effective in killing hookworms, roundworms, threadworms and skin parasites.Thyme also destroys Cryptococcus neoformans, Aspergillus, Saprolegnia, and Zygorhynchus species. AND Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureas, Escherichia coli and other bacterial species. As an antibiotic, thymol is 25 times more effective than phenol, but much less toxic.  Thyme is the primary ingredient in LISTERINE MOUTHWASH because of its germ killing power.  It is anti-viral and anti-fungal.

Sage:has the power to relax the muscles lining the digestive tract. Sage contains relatively high levels of thujone, which is the same ingredient in wormwood that kills parasites.  Sage is also used to increase circulation and is considered to be an excellent remedy for poor digestion and stomach problems.

Cayenne:
Capsicum is the component in cayenne that destroys parasites. It is a very effective herb for the elimination of parasites. It also helps the liver remove fat deposits.  It also helps the other herbs work better and faster.

Cinnamon:It has also been used to treat diarrhoea and other problems of the digestive system.Cinnamon is high in antioxidant activity.The essential oil of cinnamon also has antimicrobial properties, which can aid in the preservation of certain foods.

Cloves:
contain eugenol, caryophyllene, and tannins which are powerful anti-microbial properties – these components are what actually travel in the bloodstream killing microscopic parasites and all parasitic larvae and eggs.  Eugonal is the most powerful anti-microbial agents known. Eugonal kills all microscopic protozoa and removes parasite eggs in every stage of development.  Cloves are tremendously effective in killing malaria, tuberculosis, cholera, scabies and other parasites, viruses, bacteria and fungi including candida Cloves also destroy pseudomonas aeruginosa, all species of shigella, staph and strep..

Ginger: The components of gingerol (zingiberone, bisabolene, camphene, geranial, linalool and borneol)  found in ginger are what destroys parasites including the roundworm, the blood fluke the anisakid worm, and bacteria including salmonella. It is expectorant that helps with asthma, bronchitis, and congestion due to colds and flu.

I was playing Monopoly with my 7 year old son, Noah who is hands down, the best player in our family. Noah may be young but he has really good strategy and will often leave his competition penniless!

After writing my  money blogs, I decided to put one of the principles into practice: the Storehouse. Silly, I know. I put 10% of my initial $1500 into savings and made a vow to put aside at least 10% of each Monopoly earning on a separate pile.

We had a wonderful game. I continued to put 10% of all my monopoly earnings on the "storehouse" money pile. I didn't withdraw from it as there was never any need.

We wound up our game at bedtime. After cashing in our holdings and counting the cash, I was shocked to find that I had four times as much money as Noah did. It took my breath away.

I know it is just a game but it was as if God was speaking to me:

 The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set you hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.  -Deuteronomy 28:8

An acquaintance invited Jun and I  to invest in an off shore company, calling itself a “High Yield Investment Plan” that he had found on the internet. This plan was apparently yielding 60% per month. Smelling something fishy, I asked such questions as:

 
        

1.Who owns the company?
2. Is it a publicly listed company? Private?
3. If private, who's behind it? CEO, COO, board of directors?
4. Any financial reviews? Annual statement available for review?
5.What instruments do they invest in?
6. Who is in charge of investing your money?
7. Who do they bank with? Is your money held in escrow and do they draw a letter of credit to invest your money?
8.Is it a pyramid?
9. Off shore companies are usually not legal for Americans to invest in due to difficulty to collect taxes or protect the investor if the company folds. Is this company on a watch list?

 

Our friend had no real answers. He was not financially literate himself and was actually angered with my questions. He accused me of being fearful and not having any faith when we turned down the opportunity to invest. After researching the company on the internet, our suspicions were confirmed. The company and man in charge of the investment had a shady history and many dissatisfied people who had lost large amounts of money to previous “investments” he had spearheaded.

 

Wisdom is so important and we, as “managers” of God’s money must know what we are doing. Following is a principle that will surely help build wealth.

 

Steady Plodding

 Because we desire to leave an inheritance for our children's children (Prov 13:22),  we desire to do what king Solomon notes in Proverbs 21:5 TLB: 


That steady plodding
(plodding: Picture a person filling a large barrel one handful at a time. Little by little, the barrel is filled to overflowing. Filling this way helps train us to understand wealth growth and management. If it is ever wiped out, it can be made again.) brings prosperity.

On the other hand, according to Proverbs 20:21:  An inheritance gained quickly will not be blessed at the end.

Hasty speculation brings poverty ...for "there is another serious problem I have seen everywhere- savings are put into risky investments that turn sour, and soon there is nothing left to pass on to one's son. the man who speculates is soon back to where he began- with nothing." Ecclesiastes 5:13-15 TLB

Thus, it is our desire to intimately know with whom and in what we are investing.

 For the heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out. -Proverbs 18:15.

 
God has not called us to be successful. He has called us to be faithful. The success will come from Him:

The Lord was with Joseph, so he became a successful man... his master  saw that the Lord was with him and how the Lord caused all that he did to prosper. -Genesis 39:2-3

For promotion and power come from nowhere on earth, but only from God. Psalm 75:6-7 TLB

As we begin to practice God’s wealth building principles, I pray that God would multiply our efforts and increase our wisdom and understanding.



Here are the Five Laws of Gold again. This is ancient wisdom that still applies today:


1. Gold comes gladly and in increasing quantity to any man who will put not less than one tenth of his earnings in savings (pay yourself) to create an estate for his future and that of his family.
2.. Gold labors diligently and contentedly for the wise owner who finds it profitable employment, multiplying even as the flocks of the field.
3. Gold clings to the protection of the cautious owner who invests it under the advice of men wise in its handling.
4. Gold slips away from the man who invests in businesses or purposes with which he is not familiar or which are not approved by those skilled in its keep.
5. Gold flees the man who would force it to impossible earnings or who follows the alluring advice of tricksters and schemers or who trusts it to his own inexperience and romantic desires in investment.

Storehouse

We believe in the Storehouse Principle, as written about in the book of the same title by, Al Jandl and Van Crouch.

Here's a little bit about what the Bible says about storehouses or reserves:

Deuteronomy  28:8: the Lord will send blessings on your barns (storehouse) and everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless everything you put your hand to.

King David built a storehouse for materials for the temple even though God told him that he would not be the man to build the temple.

 

Azmaveth son of Adiel was in charge of the royal storehouses.- 1 Chronicles 27:25.

Nehemiah had a storehouse as he rebuilt the wall and so did Jewish farmers in the case of case of crop failure.

The wise Virgins in Matthew 25:1-13 wisely had reserves and we know all about the wisdom God gave Joseph (read Genesis 41). Because of that wisdom, Pharaoh ended up owning all of Egypt (Genesis 47:13-16).

 

Apparently, God will bless us from His storehouse.

 

The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His Bounty, to send rain on you land in season and bless all the work of your hands. – Deuteronomy 28:12

 

God talks about building a storehouse in the church and promises a blessing on us when we obey.

 

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent the pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the Lord Almighty. “Then the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty. –Malachi 3:10-12

 

What a powerful promise we have!

 

Prayerfully consider starting a storehouse today. The first Law of God from the book, “The Richest Man in Babylon”, by George S. Classon states:

 

 

  1. Gold comes gladly and in increasing quantity to any man who will put not less than one tenth of his earnings in savings (pay yourself) to create an estate for his future and that of his family.

 

It is never too late to start a storehouse. We can certainly discipline ourselves to put aside 10% for savings. Some might even be able to save more. Doing this can create a container that God can bless. Building a storehouse can help us provide an inheritance for our children and grandchildren, sustain us in our latter years and, we may even be a blessing to others!

One of our goals this year was to become financially literate and to learn to build wealth that will endure for generations to come. We prayed that God would teach us His way.

The system of wealth management God has led us to is one that is taught by Crown Financial Stewardship Ministries. What we have learned is something that Crown USA teaches globally as a tool to alleviate poverty.The course jumps off from the scripture about the shrewd manager:

Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the use of worldly wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? -Luke 16:11

God's Ownership is the thrust of the course. God owns everything and has never turned over ownership of anything to us. We are merely managers and will give an accounting.Therefore, we need to be prayerful of how we handle His assets, making every financial decision a spiritual decision. It is not about the 10% (tithe) only but it is also about the 90%.

Everything in the heavens and earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as being in control of everything. Riches and honor come from You alone, and You are the ruler of all mankind. Your Hand controls power and might and it is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength. 1Chronicles 29:11,12

Jun and I have signed a quit claim on everything we thought we possessed. With the perspective that God owns everything, the burden of ownership is His. Whatever we have is only there for us to prayerfully manage.

The decision to view all that we "have" as belonging to God is still new but it has been essential to putting our objectives into practice. We are prayerful about every money decision weather spending or investing for we will ultimately give an account to the Master/ Owner. All we want to hear from the Owner is, "Well done good and faithful servant!"

New Years has come and gone and so too have many of the good resolutions we have made to improve our health. So, after enjoying all of the delicious Chinese New Year specialties and Valentine chocolates, let's try some of these tips to improve our health and live strong.

Common Sense Diet. Refined sugar and refined carbohydrates are not good for your body. These two baddies spike the blood sugar then drop it making us feel drowsy and sluggish. The worst thing they do though is feed cancer cells, bacteria and viruses in our bodies. They also cause fungus internally which can often mimic tumors and be mistaken for cancerous growths.Click here to learn more. One of my dear friends, Dr. Cathy Ingraham White, is not only a seasoned pastor and a fruitful missionary, heading up No More Time Ministries, but she is a passionate poet. The poems are gripping, expressing every emotion one might experience. I have an idea of what I like to see in a school but I need to know how you all view school. I really want to know what you guys think. What school do you go to? Traditional? Progressive? International? Home school? What do you like about it? Dislike? What do you think are the top 3 most important, non-negotiable characteristics a school should possess? My mom sent this in the email. It was a great reminder to our whole family of how faithful God is and how very blessed we are. A few scriptures came to mind and my children are thinking of ways they can reach out to those who are less fortunate.

All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Acts 2: 45,46

He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done. Proverbs 19:17

I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need and to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in every and any situation, weather well fed or hungry, weather living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:11-13

I'm not into politics; that would be my husband, Jun. The passion that Jun and I share is intercessory prayer. We are so thankful that we have the ability to meet with God and make our petitions known to Him.

Aside from praying for our family, spiritual& natural, our missionaries, and those believing for a miracle like healing, we are committed to praying for this nation, the Philippines, to become the godly nation she has been prophesied to be.

As you know, prayers have been answered. Men & women who love God and desire to help change this nation have bravely tossed their hat in the ring, so to speak.

One of those brave souls, Miko Magsaysay, is running for mayor in San Juan, La Union. He ran for congress there during the last election and won, but didn't win. His votes were not properly counted. Knowing that God has called him to lay down his life and be a true "public servant" has caused him to run again; this time for mayor.

His wife, Anna texted me this morning asking for prayer covering. She said, "Only 16 days to go before elections. We need your prayers. Miko has a strong, fighting chance of winning. Let's just pray that there won't be CHEATING. Our opponents are known for that. We are also praying for wisdom, protection and provision as we carry out the task the Lord has set before us. To God be the glory."

Please do pray for Miko and other members of our church who are stepping into the "snake pit" to shape the Philippines for godliness, like, former Sen.Tessie Aquino-Oreta and Alan Cayetano.Let's also pray for honesty and integrity during the casting and counting of ballots. Please Volunteer and get involved. You can not be a salt and light from the side lines. Remember Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego. Remember Esther and Mordecai. Remember everyone who has risked their lives so that we may have the liberty, freedom and faith that we have today.

We probably won't see immediate radical changes but let's not forget to look at the long term effects of electing godly men and women into office. Imaging a senate and congress with the majority of members whose hearts are fully turned to God; a godly, president.

It is possible if you believe and we need to start now.

Fear. I can actually describe it through feeling. The skin on the back of my neck crawls and the back of my knees become weak. If the fear is really bad, i have cold sweat run down my back and my stomach flops. Phone calls that start with, "I think you need to come here. Your child has had an accident..." can induce that kind of fear. Having my husband cough up cup fulls of blood brought out all reactions.

Fear can be positive. The sense of unease, that something is not right, can make us more alert of our surroundings and help us avoid danger. Aside from that, fear is the pits. Fear cripples us, sucks out our faith and keeps us from enjoying life's experiences.

I've been thinking a lot about fear verses faith. Last week, my son, Noah won a medal for excellence in swimming. Two years before, Noah would refuse to wet his face and he would not even use a flotation device opting to stay in what he called the "safe shallow" area of the pool.No matter what we would say("I'll buy you anything you want") or do("Come to the deep in Dad's safe arms"), Noah refused to venture away from the "safe shallow".

Watching my children battle different issues makes me look into my own heart to see if I might be dealing with similar things.As usual, God was giving me a wake up call. I was terrified of what we were going through at the time and I was experiencing a crisis of unbelief.

Every night, I would declare scriptures over Noah and myself. Some favorites:

You have not given us a spirit of timidity (fear) but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline. 2Tim 1:7, Without faith it is impossible to please God...Hebrews 11:6, "Don't be afraid; just believe" Mark5:36, Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10, There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out all fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 1John 4:18

We would read Bible stories about courageous heroes(David) and those who were not so courageous but God used anyway (Gideon). The change didn't happen over night but it did happen. Last week Noah was awarded a medal for swimming. Yes I was proud of his achievement but even prouder of what God was able to accomplish in his heart.

The house was more quiet than... no, not a mouse. We don't have mice, thank God, but home was quieter than usual. Jun and Noah were at our annual "Me&My Dad Camp" trip.

One must appreciate that camping, to our family would be more like, Shangri-La. We are hotel, resort, spa kind of people. (Sorry Jun!) But, truth be told, we love observing nature but not necessarily participating in it!

Keeping this in mind, I am so blessed when Jun asks me to sign him up for this trip every year. Jun is a wonderful husband, father, provider but he's completely consumed with his everyday demands, every day. For him to set this time aside is special.

Of course, I do a huge grocery in preparation and my dear Yaya Liza and I pack the whole house and medicine chest for them but, ultimately, the entire care of our children rests on the dads during this trip.

Many of my friends won't send their little ones as they don't trust dad to care for the children the way a mom would. I have come to terms that Jun won't offer the same care or attention to detail. Heck! I doubt they even brush their teeth when they're gone. I do however appreciate the fact that Jun has chosen the importance of his relationship with his children as paramount over business, comfort or any other such thing.

Every year, my children come home exhilarated at the time spent with dad. They come home with too much food left uneaten but that's ok. The memory that they will forever cherish is, 'my dad took time out to be with me'.

My reward? I get the biggest hug and kiss from Jun with the words, "Baby, I missed you!!!!"

If any of you were wondering how the Magsaysay family was doing and where they were, I can tell you they are doing well and are living in a paradise known as San Juan, La Union. It was our great pleasure to catch up with them during our road trip. They have embraced provincial life and love their community.

they have settled nicely into La Union and Miko is running for mayor of his town. This is not an easy job and although he began the race unopposed, another candidate was fielded against him. The other candidate doesn't even have a desire to run! Let's pray for Miko and Anna that they would have favor and that this other candidate would just drop out.

They have asked for continuous prayer for God's protection and guidance as they follow the call to serve. They are a wonderful blessing. Let's pray that Miko wins as mayor and that God's Hand would be with him and his entire family.

We just came from the Life Scholarship Foundation Graduation banquet. It was so exciting to see the young graduates and listen to each of them share what a great impact Life scholarship foundation has had on them. Each graduate recounted how blessed they were not only for the financial help but more importantly for the support and mentor-ship they received from Dr. Joey and Tess Castro.

It was a privilege to hear the different stories these young people told. They spoke of God's grace, the miracle of financial help, the guidance and mentor-ship from the Castro's, of hope for a brighter future. The most wonderful thing I heard though was each graduate's tearful desire to be an active part of Life Scholarship foundation when they are able. Each graduate wanted to be involved in helping change the life of another.

We have a talented pool of fresh young graduates with a solid moral character. Why don't we spread the word and see if we can find positions for these young people.Let's not only employ them but mentor them too. One of our friends has already hired an accounting graduate. 

Let's ask our friends and then give Dr Joey Castro a short job description of what's available and let him match the job with the graduate. Please help spread the word and let us work together to get these world changers a head start.
